Devine Millimet Brings On New President

Devine Millimet, a full-service law firm headquartered in Manchester elected Jon Sparkman as president of the firm. He succeeds Alex Walker, who is concluding his second three-year term as the firm president.

Sparkman begins his term on January 1, 2012, following the firm's tradition of leadership succession. He will oversee the strategic direction and growth of Devine Millimet, as well as firm operations. Devine Millimet also has offices Concord, and boasts 65 attorneys and 75 administrative staff members.

It has been my honor and privilege to serve as president of Devine Millimet over the past six years. It has been the most rewarding experience of my professional career. And it is with great pleasure that I turn the leadership of the firm over to Jon Sparkman, said Walker. Jon's leadership has benefited Devine Millimet for many years. At various times he has been a member of our board of directors, served on the firm's compensation committee, headed up our marketing committee, chaired the firm's corporate department, and also chaired the firm's Tax Practice Group. Having been involved in the day-to-day business of the firm for many years, as well as running a successful business practice, Jon is well positioned to lead the firm. Jon is a superb lawyer who has and will continue to make a real impact on the business community within our state and he will continue to lead the firm in providing great service and results for our clients.   

Sparkman will also continue his business law practice representing small- to medium-size businesses from start-up to eventual sale, providing advice with respect to formation and financing, growth, and expansion. Jon also represents non-profit organizations, counseling them on business issues, and represents investors in New Hampshire affordable housing projects. He is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association and the NH Society of Certified Public Accountants. He was recently recognized and ranked in Chambers USA 2011 as one of America's leading attorneys in Corporate Tax and was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2012 in the field of Corporate Law, Non-Profit/Charities Law, and Tax Law (Copyright 2011 by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken, S.C.). Sparkman holds a Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School, and a Bachelor of Science degree, summa cum laude, from Bob Jones University.
