Paradigm likes to ensure that they hire the right person for the job. During the interviewing process, the plumbing and HVAC firm pairs the potential employee with a lead technician, who then assesses if the person is capable of doing the work and whether they’ll be a fit for the company. And fellow employees who recommend someone for a job receive a $500 new employee referral bonus.
Employees are empowered and trusted to make their own decisions on the job. The company gives two bonuses annually based on profits. It also invests in developing employees skills, providing financial support for licensing, training and certifications, and pairing new employees with seasoned technicians for onsite training.
Paradigm also likes to come together as a family to celebrate, whether it is going out to eat after work to honor an employee receiving their license, or cooking a special meal for an employee’s milestone anniversary and inviting everyone to join. Employees have a potluck style lunch at least three days per week.
Paradigm also holds an annual summer party for employees. “The summer is generally our busiest season with all of the A/C installations and repairs, so this is a great break for everyone and further builds our team,” says HR Manager Chris Chagnon.
All eligible technicians receive a company truck that they take home so they can go straight to the jobs. Paradigm also offers a “Smartdollar” program. The program is free and geared toward helping employees learn more about their money, get out of debt, how to invest and how to save for emergencies.
