Innovation is in Merchants Fleet’s DNA, and the company uses that to continually makes its culture better Merchants has a history of giving back to the community. When the crisis hit in March, the company challenged employees to donate 500 hours of community service however they saw fit over the course of five weeks, and that included tutoring and reading to children online, as well as delivering homemade baked goods to nonprofits.
The company also rolled out a new staff development program this year, LearniQ, that provides development courses in seven tracks that include professional skills, digital skills, innovation, and technology. Employees work with their managers to identify opportunities for growth and then participate in one track per year, fully paid for by the company.
The company also recently rolled out a back-to-school program to support parents with school-aged children, allowing them to work from home and providing them with gift bags with school supplies for kids.
Merchants continues to offer such wellness benefits as reimbursing employees $250 annually to cover healthy activities and fitness equipment purchases and a $75 incentive bonus when they get any preventative health care screening. Merchants also provides free onsite flu shots for employees and their families.
Recognizing the value of mentorship, the company offers a year-long program in which mentees are matched with a senior manager to identify goals and meet periodically.
Other Merchants’ perks include free car inspections, free onsite car washes, up to five $1,000 college scholarships per year for children of full-time employees and 16 hours of paid volunteer time annually.
