Amherst Label Celebrates Craft Beer Can Art

Amherst Label, a label manufacturer in Milford, is marking its 45th anniversary by mounting an art exhibit entitled “CANVAS,” celebrating “the art of the can.” The exhibit spotlights the original art featured on Amherst Label’s customers’ labels, specifically craft beer cans. Opening on April 20, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Amherst Label at 15 Westchester Drive in Milford, CANVAS includes tours and tastings of the beer batches featured in the exhibit.

The work of more than 15 artists will be exhibited in the gallery Amherst Label initiated for its 40th anniversary in 2018 with a show of notable regional artist Stanley Hallett’s art. Hallett was the uncle of Amherst Label’s Nick Calvetti, the owner of the company until it was acquired by Inovar Packaging Group in March of 2023.

“The idea for CANVAS has been in development since before the pandemic and we are excited to bring it to life now,” says Nye Hornor, president of Amherst Label, an Inovar Packaging Company. “We always say that ‘Every label tells a story,’ and the exhibit will tell the stories of the labels AND the artists. CANVAS is going to showcase the fantastic art on our customers' beer labels and the Opening will be a great chance to welcome customers and the community to Amherst Label.”

Amherst Label serves customers throughout the Northeast and the CANVAS exhibit includes brewers/artists from Maine, NH, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont and New York.

Amherst Label specializes in digital, flexographic, and screen printing for a variety of markets including industrial, housewares, specialty food, medical, beverage, beer, CBD, nutraceutical, and personal care.
