Alene Candles to Build Warehouse in Ohio

Alene Candles broke ground on a new $30 million, 280,000-square-foot warehouse facility in the New Albany International Business Park on Tuesday in New Albany, Ohio. The company, headquartered in Milford, anticipates creating 58 jobs and expects to contribute $2.5 million in salaries and wages to the local economy, once construction is complete.

“Expanding in Ohio allows us to work with our customers to meet their needs and to make the best candles in the world,” says Rod Harl, president of Alene. “With our New Hampshire location, we have a great example to follow for the new facility’s layout and managing its day-to-day operations. We know that our New Hampshire facility and team will continue to provide a great example, thriving and driving business, well into the future.”

Experiencing sustained growth over the past 10 years, Alene Candles has increased its output seven-fold and quadrupled its workforce. To support continued growth, the company built a second location in New Albany, Ohio in 2012. Since then, it has increased its production at that facility four-fold.

Alene Candles currently employs more than 210 people in NH and nearly 170 people in Ohio, with an additional 58 new jobs expected in Ohio once construction on the new facility is complete. The company anticipates construction to be completed by mid-2020, at which point it will begin transitioning from its current off-site warehousing location.
