Perks are great, but it’s culture that keeps employees. No one knows that better than the organizations on the 2018 list of the Best Companies to Work For in NH. While they offer some amazing benefits and policies, those are just the tools they use to drive the cultures that ultimately engage employees. A company committed to the health of its customers also invests in the health of its employees and its culture. MegaFood  provides employees with free or discounted vitamins, massages at work, and $150 annually to reimburse health expenses of their choosing. It offers plenty of ways to work off any stress, including on-site yoga, meditation, a movement lab, and a running club. MegaFood also covers naturopathic doctors under its insurance plan.

The vitamin supplement firm also helps employees strike a balance between work and home through flexible schedules. It helps new parents by offering 12 weeks of maternity leave, two weeks of paternity leave and six weeks of adoption leave, as well as adoption assistance. It also offers a New Parents Group, a peer group to support new moms and dads as they return to work. For employees who need to care for a family member in hospice or who is dying, it offers 10 days of Care and Concern leave. All employees receive three extra paid days off to volunteer in the community. MegaFood also offers summer hours with early outs on Fridays.

MegaFood finds a variety of ways to celebrate employees. It stocks “Share the Love” cards that anyone can give to show their gratitude to and recognize another teammate. It offers a bonus program, $500 for referring new employees and gift cards and additional paid time off on milestone anniversaries (ranging from $150 and four additional hours at five years to $2,500 at 30 years).

The MVP award recognizes those who go above and beyond. The Ukulele award is presented to those who demonstrate dedication to MegaFood’s mission and core values. The winner keeps the ukulele for a year and then they sign it and hand it to the next winner. The winner also receives a ukulele-shaped pin and two additional days of paid time off.

MegaFood also invests in the professional future of its employees by offering $5,250 in annual tuition reimbursement and a flight school, which provides employees with leadership and professional development training, covering such topics as performance management, communication, delegation, meeting effectiveness and time management.
