As Boothby Therapy approached its 25th anniversary, owners Maren and Christopher Boothby showed their appreciation for 12 long-term employees by hosting them for a week-long, all-expense-paid retreat at their second home in Nicaragua. “Hosting our employees was the realization of a long-held dream. It allowed us to connect on a deeper level while sharing the beauty and adventure of a place we love,” Christopher says. Employees were able to hike around the rim of a volcano, surf, and explore the city of Granada.
At Boothby Therapy, the focus on employee satisfaction begins with the very first interaction. The Life Empowerment Program is designed to tailor roles to match each employee’s preferences for hours, location, and the populations they serve. The company presents personalized gifts from each employee’s list of favorite things to celebrate milestones like new homes, births, and certifications.
The company’s focuses on building strong relationships between employees and their managers. A new mentor program empowers experienced team members to guide and support new hires. Online gatherings for different disciplines bring employees together to talk shop. In-person meet-ups such as ice cream socials, happy hours, and a family-friendly cruise on Winnipesaukee provide opportunities to connect and recharge. In 2024, Boothby Therapy invested in the Calm app, providing mental health resources for every employee and their household members. New affinity groups help employees connect with others who share similar interests and identities, combating isolation and fostering a sense of belonging.
This year, Boothby Therapy allocated its largest-ever pool for raises and responded to rising costs by doubling its contribution to health insurance premiums for both individuals and
family plans.
