Granite State Credit Union finds many ways to invest in its employees. Its tuition reimbursement program (up to $5,250 annually) is one of the credit union’s most popular development initiatives. GSCU’s Learning Management System also offers more than 600 courses.
When it comes to health and well being, GSCU rolled out a new program called Healthy Minds that provides an employer-paid resource for staff who seek behavioral health services. GSCU also has a fitness center at its Manchester location while smaller branches have treadmills and showers. Wellness Wednesday email campaigns provide staff with relevant resources on health and wellness topics.
The credit union holds appreciation days throughout the year that include catered lunches and raffles to liven up the workday. The flagship Manchester location boasts a roof-top employee deck area with patio furniture.
Giving back to the community is integral to GSCU’s culture. Employees can participate in the credit union’s Street Team events that involves various “good neighbor initiatives,” such as passing out hot dogs or ice cream at Little League games, distributing treats at a local dog park, and picking up tabs at nearby diners. Employees are provided eight paid hours annually to volunteer in the community.
Other benefits include paid maternity and paternity leave as well as adoption assistance of more than $4,000. For employees who are not member facing, GSCU allows them to work from different branches or at home, and to set their work hours.
Employees who work at least 20 hours per week are eligible to receive benefits, including health, vision, dental, short-term disability, long-term disability, and 401(k). For all part-time workers who use the benefits provided, GSCU pays 60% of the premium.
