Kelly Thompson literally grew up in the auto business as her family owns and operates Thompson Auto Group, one of the largest car dealerships in the state.
In 2019, she decided to branch out on her own, seeing opportunity in the auto glass industry. She opened Thompson Auto Glass. The business quickly took off and she is already working on opening a third location. “I come from a service background,” she says of her competitive advantage. “I care about the customer and having long-lasting relationships.”
She also credits building the right team with the success of the business. “You are only as good as the team around you and I know how to pick the right team. It’s not for nothing they call me Belichick,” Thompson says, referring to New England Patriots’ head coach. “You have to surround yourself with the right people if you want to grow.”
That commitment to service catapulted Thompson Auto Glass to become the best reviewed auto glass company in NH on Google, Thompson says.
Thompson Auto has locations in Windham and Brockton, Mass., and the location for the next facility, which will open in Q1 2023, is still confidential. “We service from Southern Maine, Vermont and all of New Hampshire and Massachusetts and some of Rhode Island. Where customers are coming from, that is the direction we are going in,” she says.
Thompson says she has exceeded revenue goals for this year and expects to add 15 to 20 employees next year. She also plans to open new locations every six to 12 months. “We want to dominate New England. If I see an opportunity, I will take it,” she says. “Business is war and if you don’t think so you will lose. I’m highly competitive.”
