2024 Nonprofit of the Year Competition

Business NH Magazine, the NH Charitable Foundation and the NH Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives invite NH Nonprofits to enter the 2024 Nonprofit of the Year competition.

Nonprofits with operations in NH are eligible to compete in the Nonprofit of the Year competition. Eductional institutions should use the Business of the Year application, even if they are a nonprofit.

We will honor one Nonprofit of the Year. The winner will recieve an unresitricted grant of $5,000 from the NH Charitable Foundation.

THE APPLICATION IS ONLINE ONLY. The application deadline is Feb. 20, 2024.

Please note the application is quite extensive. Answer each of the questions below in 2,000 words or less. We suggest you answer the questions in a word document, save them and copy them into this form. Scroll to the bottom of the form for the list of questions.

Detailed Questions

1. Please provide a brief description of the organization, its main business activities, programs and services; and its mission statement. *

2. Describe how the organization is a leader in its community and/or the field. What are the key relationships for your organization and how are they developed and maintained. While you may provide a historical perspective of the company's civic involvement, your response should also focus on accomplishments during the past year. Include policy work. Highlight awards; offices and special positions held by individuals or the company. Describe the philosophy that drives civic involvement. *

3. What are the most significant contributions the organization’s board has made to the management of the organization in the past year? How does the organization’s leadership monitor and respond to changing community needs and realities? How is leadership cultivated in the organization and leadership succession planned for and anticipated? How does the organization strive toward diversity on your board and staff? *

4. Nonprofits should upload a copy of their annual financial statements from the last three completed fiscal years. Please briefly discuss the financial stability of the organization, including diversification of funding, the role of fundraising, and how the organization prepares for changes in the economy. *

5. In up to 2,000 words, have the president or CEO of the organization explain the vision and strengths of the organization and the role it plays in NH. How is the organization strategically implementing that vision? *

6. Submit five letters of recommendation: one from the president or executive director of your local chamber or the BIA and four from recognized business leaders in your community. These letters should explain, from the writer's perspective, why the company should be considered for Nonprofit of the Year. Please e-mail letters to bnhcompetitions@gmail.com.
